Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone are the best friends you wish you had, and naturally, the two witty and talented actresses are very close in real life. The “Hunger Games” star considers Stone a “really good friend” ever since mutual co-star Woody Harrelson gave Emma her number and texted every day for a year after that.

“She texted me that she got my number from Woody,” Lawrence told Vanity Fair. “I replied, F**k off!’ And we’ve been really good friends ever since. I feel like it was our version of ‘The Notebook’ — 365 texts.”

While it might be difficult to be good friends with someone who has the same job as you – and ultimately could go after the same roles – they understand that each have something different to offer. Lawrence recently attended a “La La Land” screening and praised Stone for her Oscar buzzworthy performance.

“If I wasn’t her biggest fan, I would’ve Tonya Harding’d her in the kneecaps,” Lawrence joked, referencing the ‘90s scandal when Olympic figure skater Harding hired a hitman to break Nancy Kerrigan’s leg so she couldn’t participate in the 1994 Winter Olympics.

Palm Springs International Film Festival to Honor ‘La La Land’

La La Land is set to hit a high note at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Damien Chazelle's musical movie will receive the annual Vanguard Award on Jan. 2.

The movie-musical will receive the fest's Vanguard Award — presented to a film’s cast and director for its notable creative ensemble — at its annual film awards gala, it was announced Monday. Mary Hart will host the Jan. 2 event at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

Written and directed by Damien Chazelle, the Lionsgate title stars Ryan Gosling as a jazz pianist who falls for aspiring actress Emma Stone, but as success mounts, they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fabric of their love affair. The modern tribute to the golden age of musicals also features John Legend, Rosemary DeWitt and J.K. Simmons.

"Director and writer Damien Chazelle delivers a resonant cinematic masterpiece with La La Land,” festival chairman Harold Matzner said in a statement. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story tracking $130 – $150 million domestic opening, Kathleen Kennedy says no opening crawl

A few days ago, Empire unveiled the subscriber cover to the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story-themed issue of its magazine featuring a rendering of the Death Star plans, and now we have a look at six character covers featuring Jyn Erso, Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor, Riz Ahmed’s Bodhi Rook, Donnie Yen’s Chirrut Imwe, Jiang Wen’s Baze Malbus and Alan Tudyk’s K-2SO.

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. A lot of things can go wrong in space, but finding yourself trapped in a giant water bubble, slowly drowning while your spaceship loses all gravitational function is probably one of the worst things that you can imagine - and that's exactly where Jennifer Lawrence's character Aurora finds herself in this first clip from Morten Tyldum's Passengers.

The nearly one-minute long clip does a pretty good job showcasing some of the stunning special effects the movie will feature while also establishing the dire tone.

On a routine journey through space to a new home, two passengers, sleeping in suspended animation, are awakened 90 years too early when their ship malfunctions. As Jim (Chris Pratt) and Aurora (Jennifer Lawrence) face living the rest of their lives on board, with every luxury they could ever ask for, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction… until they discover the ship is in grave danger. With the lives of 5000 sleeping passengers at stake, only Jim and Aurora can save them all.

Star Wars standalone movies were originally George Lucas’ idea

On top of having George Lucas to thank for the very existence of Star Wars, fans may also owe him some gratitude for December’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and other future anthology movies set in the Star Wars universe.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly to promote Rogue One, Kathleen Kennedy revealed that before Lucas handed off the reigns of Lucasfilm over to her in anticipation of Disney’s $4 billion acquisition of the company in 2012, he conceived the idea of doing standalone Star Wars movies. Kennedy told the outlet: “George talked to me about doing [standalone movies] when I first came aboard. He had often thought about doing it and he had actually written down three or four thoughts and ideas, directions you could go. Obviously inside the mythology there were lots of opportunities. So, that was the first conversation I had.”

Lucas didn’t, however, come up with the concepts for Rogue One or the upcoming Han Solo movie, which led Kennedy to say: “No, we certainly talked about origin type stories, but we didn’t get into the specifics of that. We talked a lot about the Jedi and the foundational ideas that George had thought about when he created the mythology. It was sort of spit-balling ideas.”

This may be jumping to conclusions, but it seems entirely possible that Lucas’ movie ideas would be more interested in areas and eras of the Star Wars universe previously unexplored, instead of movies like Rogue One or Han Solo, which have obvious ties to the main Star Wars saga films.

The world will find out if audiences flock to Star Wars standalone movies like they would a Star Wars saga movie in just a little under a month when Rogue One flies into theaters. If recent pre-release tracking numbers seem to suggest anything it’s that Rogue One certainly won’t be performing at the same level as Star Wars: The Force Awakens (not that anyone expected it to), but it’s going to be making so much money that it doesn’t even matter. Emma Stone Brings Jennifer Lawrence as Her Date to 'La La Land' Screening. She reveals the two then texted every day for a year.

Lawrence calls the 28-year-old La La Land actress "so normal and lovely," and clearly, the feeling is mutual. Stone admits to the magazine that although she was once intimidated by Lawrence -- the two are similar in age, and presumably up for the same high-profile roles in Hollywood -- they now genuinely "love each other."

"She may not even know this, but there was definitely a time early on when I was like, 'OH HEY MY EGO IS GOING NUTS SHE'S SO GREAT AND VIBRANT AND TALENTED I'M SCREWED I'LL NEVER WORK AGAIN GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD,'" Stone writes in an email. Despite being obviously gorgeous and successful, Lawrence says other women actually aren't threatened by her.

"I think women can sense if you are the kind of woman who is going to run off with their husband," Lawrence says, referencing her friendship with her Passengers co-star Chris Pratt's wife, Anna Faris. "I don't think I give off that vibe. I give off the 'Please like me!' desperation."

Lawrence is extremely guarded when it comes to her personal life, and doesn't confirm reports that she's dating 47-year-old Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky. However, she calls Aronofsky -- who she's working with in a yet to be titled film, and was snapped kissing earlier this month -- a "visionairy." The Oscar-winning actress calls maintaining her privacy a "full-time job."

"You might think you know me, but when you approach me you're a total stranger to me and I'm scared," she explains. "I get very protective of my space. It took me a long time to be able to do that. But if I'm eating dinner and somebody comes up and a flash goes off from someone's iPhone camera, I am really rude to that person. Box Office: Disney’s ‘Moana’ Tops Thanksgiving Eve Ticket Sales With $15.7 Million

Disney’s “Moana” topped the Thanksgiving eve box office, picking up $15.7 million in its first full day of release, and leaving the competition in its wake.

The animated adventure is tracking closely to “Frozen,” which picked up $15.2 million over the same holiday period in 2013, ultimately making $93.4 million over the five day festivities. “Moana,” which follows a girl in the Pacific islands who embarks on an oceanic journey to save her people, is on pace to debut to more than $80 million over the five-day Thanksgiving corridor. Disney didn’t release a budget for “Moana,” but most animated films from the studio run between $150 million to $200 million.

Disney is on a hot streak at the box office. The company has fielded a number of hits this year — a collection of blockbusters that includes “The Jungle Book,” “Zootopia,” and “Finding Dory.” It still has “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” left to open next month. The space opera spin-off is expected to debut to more than $130 million when it hits theaters.

“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” a spin-off of the Harry Potter films, continues to do well as schools let out. The Warner Bros. release added $11 million to its haul for a second place finish, pushing its domestic total to $101.5 million. The film is on pace to do $60 million worth of business over the five-day holiday period.

Marvel’s “Doctor Strange” also got a boost from vacationers, adding nearly $3 million to its $189.2 million gross. The superhero adventure should top $200 million domestically by the end of the week.

Paramount’s “Allied,” Miramax and Broad Green’s “Bad Santa 2 full movie” and 20th Century Fox’s “Rules Don’t Apply” will try to attract adult audiences who are not interested in “Moana” and “Fantastic Beasts.”

“Allied” stars Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard as two World War II era spies. It cost $85 million to produce and made $2.7 million on Wednesday. The film should make $18 million over the Thanksgiving period.

“Bad Santa 2 full movie” brings back Billy Bob Thornton as a drink-addled department store Saint Nick. It made roughly $1.6 million on Wednesday and should do just over $10 million over the Turkey Day run. Both “Allied” and “Watch Bad Santa 2 Online” are underperforming expectations. The Brad Pitt vehicle had expected to as much as $20 million and the “Bad Santa” follow-up was projected to do in the mid-teens.

“Rules Don’t Apply,” a romantic drama that marks Warren Beatty’s return to filmmaking after more than a decade, picked up a lackluster $315,000 in its first full day in theaters. It should do less than $3 million worth of business over the holiday stretch.

On the Eve of the Spirit Award Nominations, La La Land Not Eligible, Expect Big Things for Manchester and Moonlight

Tomorrow, the Spirit Awards will announce their nominations. More and more the Spirits are becoming an Oscar player out of sheer necessity. The Oscars have to be about independent film now because there are so few choices offered from the major studios. Of course, this year the majors have some great films like Arrival, Sully, Hidden Figures, Rules Don’t Apply, Patriots Day, and of course, Fences.

I expect tomorrow to be a blow out for Manchester by the Sea and for Moonlight. If Jackie is eligible it will be there, no doubt. No word on whether Birth of a Nation is eligible or if it will show up. We have heard that La La Land is not eligible. I wonder what else we might see pop up there – I’m betting that The Fits will show up somewhere. Probably American Honey. Maybe Certain Women.

A wonderful mythology of demons and demigods. A heroine who embodies the bold spirit of her people. Another sweet, funny, exciting triumph from Disney.

There must be more than this provincial life!” So, goes the melancholy cry of the Disney princess. But it becomes so much more, something so much bigger in Moana, yet another triumph for the Mouse’s animation arm. Sweet, funny, exciting, and moving,tweet this is a transcendent experience that brings to the screen a pan-Polynesian cultural tradition that has been entirely absent from mainstream entertainment. Here is a wonderful mythology of demons and demigods, and a creation story unlike any we’ve seen before: this is ancient fantasy that feels fresh because so few of us have been exposed to it before (unlike European-flavored fantasies and Judeo-Christian creation myths, which get so much play). But Moana’s story, set thousands of years ago, also has much that is pointed to say to us today.

The first thing electrifying about Moana is that its heroine isn’t just a girl longing to see, literally, new horizons. Yes, Moana — pronounced, in case you’re wondering, “Mo-ana,” not “Moan-ah” — is driven to find out what lies the beyond the reefs off her beautiful South Pacific island paradise, reefs beyond which her people are forbidden to venture. There is, in the grand Disney tradition, much soul-searching and lots of “be yourself” encouragement, but we’ve never seen anything like how that takes shape here via Moana (the voice of newcomer Auli’i Cravalho). She wonders why she dreams of doing something that her father, Chief Tui (the voice of Temuera Morrison: Green Lantern, Couples Retreat), insists cannot be attempted. When she cries “What is wrong with me?” I gasped in astonishment: that cuts deeper into the disconnect between what we’re supposed to want and what we actually do want than any Disney cartoon has done before. And then, in a sequence that is even more astonishing, Moana experiences a soaring vision of the past of her people as daring explorers who crossed vast oceans, who were brave and intrepid, not confined by comfort and timidity. Disney Changes ‘Moana’ Title in Italy, Where It Has Porn Star Name

Disney’s “Moana” will soon roll out across Italy – but under a new name, “Oceania,” a change widely believed to be prompted by the fact that the name of the film’s titular Polynesian princess is also that of a famous Italian porn star.

For Italian adults, at least, “Moana” is pretty much synonymous with Moana Pozzi, a porn actress and TV personality who is still a household name, even though she died in 1994.

While Disney Italy is not commenting on the name change, the company’s head of theatrical marketing in the country, Davide Romani, acknowledged during a meeting of Italian exhibitors last year that they were “thinking about this issue.” Shortly afterwards, Disney issued its first Italian poster for the pic, with “Oceania” as its title.

“There are two very simple reasons for the title change,” said an Italian marketing expert who did not want to be quoted by name. “One is that if you type ‘Moana’ and do a Google search in Italy you risk coming up with porn videos. And it’s very expensive and a waste of money to try and change that.”

The other reason cited by the marketing executive is that “in any Italian focus group ‘Moana’ is Moana Pozzi the porn star.”

Elsewhere in Europe, including France and Spain, the animated musical is being released as “Vaiana” for various reasons, including the fact that in Spain “Moana” is a registered brand.

It’s not unusual for Disney and other studios and international distributors to tailor film titles to national sensibilities.

Last year, drone warfare thriller “Eye in the Sky,” starring Helen Mirren, was retitled for Latin America with the Spanish words for “Invisible Enemy,” because of concerns that the large Catholic population there would perceive the original title as a reference to God watching from above.

Moana Pozzi, who appeared in dozens of porn movies, became a prominent Italian personality due to her personal charisma, which she used to cross over into TV and even politics, as co-founder of Italy’s Love Party in the early ’90s in tandem with another popular porn star, known as Cicciolina, who became a member of parliament and was briefly married U.S. artist Jeff Koons.

“Oceania,” as the Disney film is now known in Italy, is set for release in Italian movie theaters Dec. 22, one day ahead of the U.S. release. Watch Moana Online Here.

Josh Trank was set to direct a Boba Fett movie before he was fired

When Disney and Lucasfilm first announced, they were doing spin-off movies for their Star Wars franchise, one of the early rumoured titles was a Boba Fett and Han Solo film. While the Han Solo spin-off movie has already been announced, plans for a Boba Fett movie remained quiet. Well, it turns out it was going to be announced last year with Josh Trank in the director’s chair – before he was fired.

You may recall the drama surrounding last year’s Fantastic Four reboot, which saw Trank denounce the movie before it had even come out. It was then revealed that the film had major reshoots without Trank’s involvement and he was said to be very disruptive on set. During these re-shoots, Trank left the Star Wars movie he’d been announced for, and it was later revealed that he was fired (which he denied).

So far along the process for a Boba Fett movie was Trank, that – according to EW sources – Disney and Lucasfilm were going to announce the film with a sizzle reel of footage at Star Wars Celebration 2015, the event where they announced the title for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Whether or not we’ll still get the Boba Fett movie remains to be seen, but it certainly won’t have Trank in the director’s seat. This will, for now, have to remain as one of those ‘what ifs’.  Rogue One A Star Wars Story Full Movie Download.

Passengers: Jennifer Lawrence And Chris Pratt Are Out of Luck

Since Alfonso Cuaron’s eye-popping Gravity lit up theaters three years ago, moviegoers have been treated to a steady rollout of big-budget and cerebral sci-fi movies that spanned Interstellar and last year’s The Martian.

In 2016, we’re about to welcome not one, but two new additions to the pack in Arrival and Passengers, Morten Tyldum’s star-studded adventure that mixes romance, spectacle and a story that’s housing a devastating twist.

It’s one that involves Jim Preston (Chris Pratt) and Aurora Dunn (Jennifer Lawrence) who, along with 5,000 fellow passengers, embark on a painstaking journey to Homestead II.
