There is a lot to love about “La La Land,” Damien Chazelle’s modern take on the Tinseltown musical: the soaring music, the charm of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, the bittersweet story of love and broken dreams.

The dreamy visuals of “La La Land” are a feast for the eyes. The film is such a beautiful portrayal of Los Angeles, audiences want to live inside of it forever. That’s not possible, of course, but here’s the next best thing: decorate with the official movie poster.
Chazelle directed both “Whiplash” and “La La Land,” but that’s not the only connection between the two films. Gosling’s character, Sebastian, has a love of jazz music that’s only matched by “Whiplash” protagonist Andrew (Miles Teller). Also, composer Justin Hurwitz created the score for both “La La Land” Movie and “Whiplash,” which plays beautifully on vinyl.
